Free marriage sites: what "free" actually buys you

Almost every platform is "free". The difference is where the wall stands, and whether you hit it on day one or after a month.

Updated 8 September 2026

The word "free" means almost nothing on its own here. Nearly every platform lets you register and browse at no cost, and then a wall stands between you and whatever you actually wanted.

The useful question is not "is it free?" but **"where is the wall?"** — at the first message? at seeing who liked you? at searching with filters? The answer decides whether a free account is useful or merely a shop window.

Eight questions worth asking

Our answers are written out plainly. The other column is left to you: ask them, or look through their pages. We do not answer on their behalf.

  1. Can I send a first message without paying?

This is the commonest place for the wall. A platform that blocks your first message is not free in any useful sense.

  2. Can I be messaged without paying?

Some platforms let the other person write to you and stop you reading it. That is worse than an outright block.

  3. How many profiles do I see a day?

A limited number is not necessarily a flaw — endless browsing stops anyone settling. But learn the number before you register.

  4. Is filtered search free?

The gap between "a daily selection" and "full search" is large if you are looking in one country or for one specific thing.

  5. Are privacy and blocking free?

This is the ethical line as we see it: anyone selling you protection of yourself has made a choice.

  6. Does the subscription auto-renew, and how is it cancelled?

Read this before paying, not after. And look for a cancel button in settings, not a contact form.

Platforms named here

We visited the front page of every platform named here, quoted the sentence each uses to describe itself, and recorded the date. We did not copy their prices, because prices change and differ by country. We did not give them ticks and crosses, because we have no way to verify them. What we add is our reading, and we say so.

Muzz

Salams

Best Rated Muslim Marriage & Friendship App.

Quoted from their own site, 8 September 2026

An app that puts marriage and friendship in the same headline. If you are looking for marriage only, ask how it separates the two.

Muslima

Muslim Matrimonials — meet Muslim singles on Muslima, the most trusted Muslim dating site with over 7.5 million members.

Quoted from their own site, 8 September 2026

An old, large site that calls itself a "dating site" rather than a marriage site in its own description — a distinction worth noticing.

buzzArab

buzzArab is the place for Arabs, Arab Christians, Muslims and just about everybody else who is looking for friends, dating or a life partner.

Quoted from their own site, 8 September 2026

Addresses Arabs of every faith and folds friendship, dating and marriage into one promise. The broadest in scope, and the least specific to marriage.

Our own answer

On Mizan the free account is permanent and includes: a profile, eleven curated profiles a day, ten expressions of interest a day, two new conversations a day, unlimited replies inside conversations already open, and every privacy, blocking and verification tool. Our wall stands at full filtered search, at seeing who expressed interest in you, and at raising the daily conversation limit. We say where it is instead of letting you find out.
