Terms of use
These pages have been reviewed by no lawyer. They describe faithfully what the service does today, and on that point they bind Mizan. A legal review remains necessary before any commercial opening, and is recorded as such in the project's follow-up.
1. What this service is, and what it is not
Mizan is a marriage agency. You submit a file describing your plan to marry; the agency studies it, searches on your behalf, and introduces someone once both sides have consented.
This is neither a dating app, nor a social network, nor a catalogue of profiles. Members cannot search for or directly contact one another : there is no messaging on this service, and no file can be browsed. Anyone not seeking marriage has no place here, and we write it down rather than let it be discovered.
The service is not open to the public today. No profile is published. These terms describe how it is meant to work, and bind Mizan from the first real sign-up.
2. Who may sign up
- Be of legal age. The service is forbidden to minors, without exception.
- Be free to marry under one's own personal law.
- Sign up for yourself. Signing up on behalf of someone else, even a relative, is not allowed.
- One account per person.
Age is declared at sign-up. It is checked only at the move to level 3, which examines an identity document. In between, the barrier rests on what people say: a known weakness, written here rather than hidden.
3. The account
Signing up asks for an email address and a password. The password is never kept in the clear: only a fingerprint computed by scrypt is stored, and it does not let anyone recover the password.
You are responsible for keeping your credentials secret. A session stays open fourteen days; you can close it at any moment by logging out, which deletes it on the server at once.
4. The four verification levels
| Level | What is checked | What it opens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Email address confirmed by a link sent to it | Write a profile, without publishing it |
| 2 | Video selfie compared with the document shown; no image is kept | Publish, and make contact |
| 3 | Identity document checked, then not kept | Reciprocity filter, ranking priority |
| 4 | A guarantor vouches for you, or six months without a report | Access to profiles reserved for level 4 |
None of these checks is in service today. The table describes the system we are building: no account has been verified, since the service is not open. No direct contact is possible on this service: the agency introduces, and only with the consent of both people.
A level is lost once the commitment that opened it is no longer kept. You are the one who sets the minimum level of those allowed to write to you: the service does not decide for you.
Today, no screen lets anyone move to level 2. Identity verification is not built. Until it is, the four levels describe an architecture, not a service rendered.
5. Publishing a profile
- Publishing requires a confirmed address, and is always voluntary.
- Four things are shown before all else: the marriage horizon, where you live, plans for children, and the kind of household.
- No file is publicly visible: there is no profile page, no search, no messaging. Only the agency reads your file, and only the agency can present it, with your consent.
- Withdrawal is immediate, with no reason to give.
6. How an introduction happens
- You write to no one, and no one writes to you. There is no messaging, no search and no directory on this service.
- The agency studies the files and makes the proposals. It tells you about one person at a time, never a list.
- Nothing is passed on without your agreement, nor without theirs. An introduction requires two yeses, given separately. As long as one is missing, the other person knows nothing about you.
- You may say no without justifying yourself, at any time. A refusal is not discussed, and it is not held against you.
- The verification threshold you set is the level the agency must have reached on someone before introducing them to you.
7. Our price is written down, and the larger share is paid at the end
The guidance costs 150 € when the file is opened, then 250 € on success. That is 400 € in total, of which 62 % is due only if the guidance succeeds.
The 150 € deposit covers the study of your file and the search work already undertaken. It is not refundable. The 250 € is due only on success, and nothing else will be asked of you.
No advertising network will enter this service. No payment will buy a place in our searches, priority of reply, or being introduced more often.
No payment is active today. No bank card is asked for.
8. What leads to an account being closed
Not keeping to them leads, depending on how serious it is, to content being removed, the profile unpublished, or the account closed.
A report found justified suspends the account at once: its profile leaves the search, and it can no longer make contact, write in a conversation, or accept a request. Refusing, withdrawing and reporting remain possible — a sanction does not stop anyone from protecting themselves.
Contesting is done in writing, and handled by hand. We do not promise that someone other than whoever decided will conduct the review: we are too few for that to be true, and writing it would be a commitment we would not keep.
If the review concludes that the report was unfounded, the suspension is lifted and the account becomes usable again. Your file, however, does not restart on its own: it is up to you to resume the support.
An account targeted by several reports stays suspended as long as at least one of them is found founded.
9. What we do not guarantee
- We guarantee no outcome. No marriage, no meeting, no number of replies.
- We do not guarantee that what other people declare is accurate. Verification reduces that risk; it does not remove it.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the service.
We remain responsible for what we do: the security of your data, keeping our own commitments, and handling reports.
10. Closure, changes, applicable law
You can delete your account at any moment from your space. Deletion erases your profile and closes your sessions at once.
What outlives deletion, and why
Any change to these terms will be announced before it takes effect. A change that would narrow your rights will not apply retroactively.
Portuguese law applies, because the service is established in Portugal — see « Who publishes this service » below.
That takes nothing away from you: if you live in another country of the European Union, the consumer protection rules of your country of residence continue to apply, and you may go to the courts where you live. A choice of law cannot deprive you of what your own country guarantees you.
11. Who publishes this service
This service is published by Mizan, Rua Eng. Adelino Amaro da Costa, Castro Daire, Portugal.
The agency’s full record — what it does and what it does not publish — is on a separate page.
A question, a complaint, a request about your data: it is the same address in all three cases, and a person reads it.
